Padraig Tarrant comes from a family of dancers in County Kerry. His father, Liam Tarrant was one of the founders of The Siamse Tire Theatre in Tralee, County Kerry. Siamse Tire is also known as the National Folk Theatre. It serves to protect the traditional art forms of rural Ireland, particularly North Kerry. This theater has become the home of performance art in Kerry.
In tribute to the tradition of dance in North Kerry, Padraig Tarrant has designed this metal structure to stand outside Teach Siamse in Finuge, County Kerry. This dancehall is one of the very few remaining in Ireland and is of vital importance both historically and culturally. The piece embodies the posture and poise of a dancer.
